September Extra Blog

During the month of September I was able to continue my internship in kittrich, and learned more of about how kittrich Corporation works. I am learning about the different products that kittrich makes and how and to whom they are sold too.

Many entrepreneurs are always looking for new opportunities for business. It may be launching a new product line, or developing a new service. My mentor assigned me to go to a different business outlet than his and told me to interview the owner.

I decided to interview the McDonalds franchise owner who’s names Rahim Andef. Rahim is the owner of two McDonalds who of which, I had the privilege to interview.

He showed me how he manages his businesses and how he obtained them. All in all, this was the highlight of this month.

Blog 6 - Second Interview Preparation

The purpose of the second interview is to justify your mentor as an expert in the field.  Thus, you will be asking them at least 5 questions about their background and/or the background of the organization or company where they work.

1.  Who is your mentor and where do they work?

My mentor is Bob Friedland who is the owner of kittrich corporation. He is the owner and CEO

of the company. His company has many different product lines, but his main product line is his

contact shelfiner which he sales to all of the top retailer stores.

2.  What five questions will you ask them about their background?

-How did you get started with kittrich corporation?

-How long have you been in business?

-What has been your most successful product?

- How many people work for kittrich?

-How many locations does kittrich have?

Blog 5 - Mentorship Reflection

1. Mentorship question: Describe your experience in how you found your mentorship?  If you haven't found one yet, describe your experience so far in the search of a mentor.

I have known my mentor for 5 years who I have become get friends with. I met him when he scouted me to play in his soccer club named F.C Golden State.  He is the president of the club, has his company named Kittrich Corporation, and has a variety of different product lines. When I thought of my senior project and how I wanted to do it on entrepreneurship , he was the first person who came to mind. When I decided to contact him and ask him if he wanted to be my mentor, he was willing and happy to help me.

2. Research question: What has been your most important article you have read so far and why?

The most important article I have read is "successful  practices and polices to promote regulatory reform and entrepreneurship at the  subnational level."  This has been the most important article I have read so far because it shows the different terms that are used in entrepreneurship and the acronyms that entrepreneurs use at the OECD. This article has allowed me to learn a bit about the different polices that entrepreneurs use all over the world.

August Additional Blog Post

During mentorship, I have been able to see the different products are are made and the process of

getting it out to the market. For the past weeks I was working with the product manager looking at at

a new "fire spray" which is to put out fires. He should me the design of the product and how he

compares with other similar products out in the market. I was able to pitch out ideas of how I think

the product best would sell out in the market.

Blog 4: Interview Preparation

1.  Who do you plan to interview?  Why?

I was planning to interview my mentor but I think I will interview his, we can so call, chairman (women), who helps run my mentors company. I am thinking of interviewing her because she seems to be very knowledgable about seeking new business.

2.  You have to ask 5 questions.  What additional questions do you plan to ask?

Usually when I interview a person, I come up with questions as the interviewee is giving me more insight on the topic. But a few questions I can ask her are:

-What is your first step to seeking out business?

-How do you manage a business when you have decided to act upon it?

-What is the most difficult obstacle through the process of maintaining a business?

-What does a entrepreneur need to do to be successful?

-Whats your favorite think about your job?
